About me

With nearly a decade of experience working with adolescents with issues including mood disorders, impulse control disorders, anxiety disorders, and self-destructive behavior, I have learned that the most important first step is establishing an alliance with your clients. My teen clients have often entered therapy with little to no interest in the process of therapy and even considerable distrust of authority figures. In response, I have learned to avoid power struggles and instead help my clients identify their own concerns and worries, separate from outside pressures, and explore how setting goals in therapy may help them to address these concerns. Often, this alliance not only helps my clients to improve the quality of their lives, but reduces conflict with those around them.

My background combines psychodynamic understanding with cognitive-behavioral techniques and approaches. I specialize in helping my clients to make connections, and to better identify and understand the patterns of decisions and actions that can often have unwanted consequences on their lives. With this insight, they often have much greater success with breaking negative and harmful cycles in their lives and making more thoughtful decisions. My strengths lie in being a warm, attentive, and empathic listener, ensuring that my clients feel heard, understood, and respected, and providing insights that help them to better understand themselves.

I look forward to to connecting with you and your teen, and to begin our journey together.

Excellent therapist

Dr Goldberg has connected with our 14 yo girl in a profound way; she leaves their sessions exuding confidence. We were cautiously optimistic about her response to counseling, but he has really exceeded our expectations for her. We don't listen in to sessions, and we don't know what the secret sauce is, but it's working! Hooray!

I've done three sessions with Dr. Goldberg. My two talking points were loneliness and major life transitions. Dr. Goldberg is an engaged listener and provides great perspective to help me think about paths forward.

Dr, Goldberg is a caring and understanding man who always made the already judgement free atmosphere calm and friendly. He provides reasonable strategies to progress to your goals. He has assisted with me confronting some of my major stressors and has helped minimize them in the short time we have worked together, I would recommend him to anyone but especially to people, who like myself, are maybe little hesitant on therapy

Dr. Goldberg helped me navigate my issues in a systematic manner. He provided me with strategies and methods to progress towards my goals. I did not feel judged in any way, and was very comfortable while speaking with him. Highly recommend!

Work with me!
