About me

"The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new."

Hi there! My name is Cheyenne, I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor, and my passion is helping others. I've been in the mental health field for a total of 8 years with the last 4 years as a therapist. I've worked in various settings with people from all walks of life, from preschool aged children to adults at the end of life stages. It is my purpose to help others grow within themselves and achieve their goals for an overall better quality of life. I came to be a therapist due to personal experience with mental health issues in my own family and hurdles I've learned to overcome through therapy for myself. I have a brother 10 years younger than me that has struggled with Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder from the time he was 8 years old and spent many occasions in hospitals and long term treatment facilities, where I visited him and supported him every chance I had. The part that I found disheartening was the amount of employees in the field that didn't seem to truly care about the clients. As a young teenage girl witnessing this, I decided to make it my mission in life to get into the field and help as many people as I can with the care that the client deserves! Now, I am doing just that on a daily basis.

I take my approach with each client based on what it is that you need, meeting you where you are in any given moment. Therapy with me is eclectic, as no two people are the same; there is no one therapy approach or technique or style that will work on every person. You can read below the various approaches I utilize in therapy, however the most important aspect is the therapeutic alliance; the relationship between client and therapist, building a foundation of trust that will lead to positive change. I received my undergraduate BA degree in Psychology at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas and my MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, also at Henderson. In my education, I had a special focus on children and adolescents in Play Therapy. I've worked in the clinical setting with preschoolers, children, teenagers, adults, and older adults with a broad array of issues; in the jail setting with adult female/male inmates; and in the residential setting with chronically mentally ill adults.

I believe in holistic care, providing warm support and delicately venturing into the areas of concern, however I can also provide a more direct approach if fitting for the individual. Real change takes time and I am willing to work with you on however long it takes to achieve the goals you want. I like a genuine, open therapy process wishing you to feel comfortable to come as you are. I tend to use a DBT approach with my teens, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, which is a type of cognitive-behavioral therapy with main goals on teaching you how to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate emotions, and improve relationships with others; though I take a holistic approach and tailor the needs to each teen.

I want to help you not just learn to survive but learn to THRIVE!

Cheyenne has always been very responsive, and very easy to talk to. Professional, yet so relatable. She has helped both me and my son, and we are so grateful for her advice. She has been a pleasure to work with, and would recommend her to anyone.

Cheyenne was amazing right from the start. I am someone who has been hesitant to the point of avoidance when it comes to therapy and I was very anxious. Cheyenne makes me feel heard and understood. We have a lot of issues to work through but somehow working with her I don't feel overwhelmed I feel hopeful. She's calm and understanding, and she asks the right questions to really make you think. Hands down highly recommend.

Cheyenne has helped me a lot in the past few months. She helped me see through the changes I had to do in my life and supported me through it. I have become much more aware of my thought process. The sessions are fun, she is a great listener and always says the right thing or has the right question to push you further. It's good to be able to talk about energy, emotions, hormones, and instinct with a therapist.

Cheyenne has honestly changed my way of thinking and feeling from the very first session. She makes me feel understood and like what I have to say matters. Not only does she show that she really cares, but she also encourages me to try new things that I would not have thought of otherwise. I would recommend Cheyenne to anyone who needs to talk and be understood.

Cheyenne is amazing. She is very professional, kind and knowledgeable. On the days I can't understand or process my feelings, Cheyenne guilds me through them. She is so easy to talk to, and I know that she genuinely cares. I feel so much calmer after a session with her. I'm very grateful that she's my counselor.
