About me
Having begun my career as a teacher working with at-risk youth, I came to realize that the educational barriers confronting my students reached far beyond the classroom. I recognized a need and seized upon an opportunity to intervene into the lives of these young people as a mental health practitioner. After graduating with a masters in clinical counseling from Johns Hopkins University, I gained experience by accepting a diverse clientele including adolescents as well as adults, couples and families. I have worked with clients impacted by anxiety, depression, trauma, domestic violence, and immigration issues, and I am prepared to offer counseling services to those people and populations. My philosophy is that mental health is a necessary component of overall health and well-being.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Challis Russell. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.
Challis Russell is a wonderful therapist. I highly recommend. She’s given me many ideas to let sink in, and she’s caring and empathetic. I will work with her again in the future. Give yourself the self-care love by working with Challis.
She is caring and compassionate. She has been helping me heal and grow
Challis is arguably the best therapist I’ve worked with in my 20 years of therapy. She is sensitive but tough, kind but reasonable, makes you feel welcome but pulls no punches, and helps you believe in yourself. I am so grateful.
Challis is so good at what she does. She has helped me gradually explore the root of what I am feeling and why I am feeling that way. I am happy to go to therapy each week because I feel like I am heard.
Our daughter really got a lot from working with Challis. She felt safe and heard. We are grateful Challis was able to find a time to work Alexandria
