Life is a journey and not a destination. The road can be rocky when you are traveling it as a teen or as the parent of a teen. I have worked with adolscents in my private practice as well as in residential settings for over ten years. I am objective as well as trained in working with people. Sometimes parents and children have difficulty in stepping back with enough distance to see things objectively and unemotionally. This is very understandable as the developmental stage of adolesence is filled with emotional roller coasters. This very challenging time sets the foundation for adulthood and must be successfully mastered.
I am here to be the bridge for the parent and teen relationship. I can listen nonjudgementally and provide some structure for the communication in this very important relationship. The adolscent is trying to move away and stay attached at the same time. Parents are trying to decide how much to let go and where to hold tightly.
I look forward to working with you when you are in need of some support and guidance.

Barbara was one of the most comforting people I have ever talked to. She listened to me, showed that she cared about what I was talking about, followed up with me and remembered big dates I had told her, but she also gave me advice and tools that I otherwise wouldn’t have thought of to cope with things I was going through. I cannot find one negative thing to say about her!
Amazing counselor who makes you feel welcome and heard from early on. Sometimes a lending ear is just what you may need.
