April Abrego, MA, LPC, is an experienced psychotherapist with advanced training in strengths-based and goal-focused therapies. She has her masters degree in Mental Health Counseling from Texas A & M University and is currently a Doctoral Candidate in Counseling Psychology. She has years of experience helping teenagers with the many difficult problems that may happen in those very important years from age 13 to 18. So many changes happen during those years from transition to high school, new relationships, changing friendships, and the demands and stress of school and family life. Mrs. Abrego works with youth to listen and understand what type of thoughts and feelings have been difficult. She also has experience working with teenagers who have experienced abuse when they were younger and want to heal their hearts and minds as they become adults. She is trained in family therapy and enjoys working with parents as well, providing psychoeducation and coaching. What is happening to one person in a family is often affecting the entire family in different ways. Many teens find that talking about their feelings and thoughts helps them to sort out what to do next, set goals, and start feeling better. She is never judgemental and is accepting and welcoming of teenagers who may be Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender.

Understanding and compassionate!
She’s empathetic, and incredibly helpful. Appreciated her insight and resources.
April was a fantastic listener and advice giver. Equal parts kind, funny, and empathetic. If it wasn’t frowned upon, I’d be happy to have her as a friend!
I cannot say enough good things about April. I love her approach and how easy it is to talk to her. I work in a behavioral health hospital and because of my experience with April and teen counseling, I have recommended this to other patients. I could not be happier with my therapist. Thank you, April.
April has been wonderful, supportive, and helped me find actual solutions to most of my issues.
Posting this in case I can’t at some point uhhh.....so incredible. I think that’s a good description. She is a very good listener and very honest and very real with you. She doesn’t sugar coat things but she also doesn’t bluntly tell you things that would harm you rather than help. A heads up, in general, this does need to be said. If you are someone who has self dx’d with borderline personality disorder or questioning if you have it? Let me make it clear because I know the horror stories from people who have BPD she is one of the rare few that will listen to you and not disregard what you say. She will listen and within the BPD community, that is a major step forward as well as a signal that she is someone safe to talk about BPD because she doesn’t show any signs of a bias/hate/stigma that are seen among others. Other than that she’s great at helping you plan things out and so good at following through. I highly recommend her.
So far everything has being great. She is very supportive and she listen to our concerns and provides feedback in a timely manner.
April is an extremely understanding and competent counselor, she always makes time and always helps me when I need it. Highly recommended!
My spouse and I have improved a lot on our communication skills,Anger management, conflict management and relationship with the counseling service from April. And reading and books are very useful beneficial to us especially when we have so tight schedule. We really appreciate April's service.
April is very thoughtful and her probing is very constructive. She offered a lot is time slots in her schedule, making it easier for me to make therapy fit into my schedule. I'm very glad to have been matched with April.
Just started with April recently and really grateful that we are on the right path and think she is a great counselor to get us there!
April is great
April has been really supportive and Professional and made me feel so Comfortable from the moment I spoke to her and at ease after 1 month of sessions with her I really found great peace ,understanding and solution to the issues I was dealing with really pleased with her very great and good person and Counselor
I have really enjoyed my sessions with April. She listens, and responds appropriately. She makes sure my concerns are addressed. She finds ways to help my outside of the sessions.
April is fantastic. For the first time I feel like someone is actually trying to understand what is at the root of all this, rather than walking in with a judgment and trying to walk me into it. I feel at ease, and she is always responsive - sometimes faster than I can be. I am VERY happy!
April has been amazing. She understands how I feel, and tries to help me out. I can say without her I probably would of done something that would have been bad. She works with me with in phone calls and messages. She's absolutely amazing and an angel!
Very helpful, has helped me out of a really dark place and continues to do so! through all the confusion of transitioning genders she has helped me realize that everything doesn't have to be so confusing and scary.
She has been so understanding, responds in a helpful way to really guide me through my issues. She has helped be find root problems to resolve while making things go slow enough to really process even when I tend to give 0 to 6000 when I get to a problem. I was skeptical at first but now I recommended this to everyone.
I’ve only interacted a few times, but, it has been amazing. I really appreciate her time and compassion.
April is very easy to talk with. Like we've been friends forever. She put me at ease from the very beginning. Looking forward to a long working relationship.
April is kind, compassionate and gives me hope.
