About me

My treatment approach for children and teens of ages 13-19 is Cognitive Behavioral therapy or Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which are both evidence-based practices that have been backed by clinical research. I am also a Nationally Certified TFCBT therapist and take great pride is working with kids and teens with a variety of complex issues such as trauma, abuse, neglect, and adjustment issues. I have worked with other clients who struggle with ADHD, OCD, and have had issues with anxiety and/or depression.

For the most part, treatment for teens is quite creative and I enjoy doing activities in therapy as well as journaling, painting, and more. While not all teens enjoy writing or talking so much, we do a great deal of activities to improve wellness, improve self esteem, and address teen related issues such as "Who am I?" and "Where do I fit in?" In some cases, treatment for teens includes improving relationships with friends, parents, and increasing their access to support and or resources. I will work with teens but also with parents in improving the home environments or social environments that may/not trigger increased dysregulation in kids/teens.

I hope you will consider this very important step towards self discovery and the realization that happiness is the key to a long, happy life full of wonder and amazement.

Angie has been helping my 12 year old daughter. Since the first session, my daughter said “I feel relieved” and she loves talking to Angie every week. I have seen the progress my daughter has made and I’m extremely pleased and happy that her therapy is working. Angie is patient, sweet and my daughter feels really confortable with her. Thank you Angie for all you do!

Angie has been exceptional for our family. I would highly reccomend her. While she is here for my daughter she doesn't mind answering my questions or hearing out all my updates that I think she may need, even if she really doesn't need them.
She is quick to respond and I know that my child is going to get the best help necessary.

For a long time I have suffered from anxiety that because of that I almost ended my life, that is the main reason I decided to seek help, I was very afraid to talk to someone who I did not know, but Angie Carrera changed my life by teaching me different techniques to reassure me, he shows me exactly what fear causes me, things that not even I myself know. She continues to teach me to know more about my ptsd adhd many times I look forward to the time of therapy it makes me feel much better it has become a friend. Angie has been patient with me and she’s showed me hidden things about myself that I wasn’t aware of. Counseling is a slow and subtle process but it’s giving me an outlet to help reset myself in order to get better

Angie is kind, attentive and has provided me with helpful information and practices to try in all of our sessions. Anytime we’ve experienced difficulties connecting for a session she has always found a way to reach out and accommodate me.

Work with me!
