About Me

Teenage life is harder than ever and too often adults blow off a teen's mental health issues as "hormonal." You are doing your child a great service getting them the help they need. I am a licensed counselor in Illinois and Missouri with nearly 20 years of experience. I got my master's degree in community/ school psychology from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, and since then have dedicated most of my career to working with parents and children. I have worked with teens both in private practice, residential program, supervised visitation program and a special education therapeutic school setting. I also have two teenagers of my own. I have taught child development at Lewis and Clark Community College and I am also a Think Trauma trainer.

I have yet to find a teen that I couldn't connect with which is really half the battle! I am laid back but still able to provide good structure and guidance and practical skills for your child to use. I draw a lot from solution-focused, mindfulness and cognitive-behavioral therapies.

Amanda has been working with our teen daughter for nearly a year. She has helped our daughter not only grow comfortable with counseling but has also supported her in working through significant anxiety and OCD. We’ve seen great strides in our daughter’s ability to cope and even healthily push beyond her discomforts which has been such amazing growth for her. Amanda is always quick to respond to our daughter’s concerns or questions and is always willing to chat with us as well. We’re so thankful we found this therapy format which so sufficiently meets our daughters needs.

Since day one she has helped me! I love that the first thing she asked was what were three goals of mine. She’s helped me love and appreciate myself more. She also listens and asks questions that I would never ask myself.
