Welcome, and thank you for taking the time in learning more about me! My name is Amanda and I am a licensed professional clinical counselor in the State of Ohio. I graduated from Walsh University with a Masters degree in Counseling and Human Development with a Mental Health Specialty. I have 15 years experience working in the mental health field. I have worked in a variety of settings such as outpatient, crisis intervention, school, and currently private practice. I have experience working with a broad range of clinical issues such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, family issues, divorce, blended family issues, trauma, grief, abuse, parenting issues, and behavioral issues. My area of expertise is working with the child and adolescent population.
I primarily use evidence based techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, and problem-solving therapy. I believe therapy takes time. When working with the child and adolescent population I believe parents and family play a crucial role in the treatment process as well. It is my role to help your child develop the appropriate tools to manage/cope with the specific issues they are dealing with. Together we can work on establishing your child's goals. There may be times where I will assign therapeutic homework assignments to encourage work outside of our sessions. This is where I look for support from the parents in encouraging your child to follow through with this. I look forward in helping your child in any way I can. Amanda is great! She actively listens, gets clarification instead of assuming things, and breaks down a lot of ‘psych terms’ when needed. She knows her stuff but is kind and patient about it.
