I am a licensed mental health counselor practicing in Indiana for almost 8 years. I have specific knowledge and experience working with individuals struggling with behavior and stress management, developmental disorders, anxiety, depression, ADHD, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and trauma-related disorders. I worked directly with a school corporation for over 5 years working with teen-aged clients. Since I worked directly within the school environment, I have knowledge with experiencing the challenges teens face in school, such as poor communication with teachers/ administration and staff downplaying mental health or not knowing how to help.
I believe it is important to meet the client where they currently are to develop a strong therapeutic relationship. I strive to provide a warm and nurturing environment to support and empower my clients. I have experience providing individual, family, and group therapy. My background is in art therapy, and I often utilize art therapy techniques with my clients; however, it is not a requirement to include art in the sessions if the client is not comfortable. I do believe visual expression can give a voice to the individual that they may not be able to communicate directly. With art therapy, I believe the process of art making is often more important than the final product. The use of art therapy can foster healing within the individual and is an alternative to traditional talk therapy. Aside from utilizing art therapy techniques with clients, I use an integrative approach, primarily utilizing Adlerian, CBT, and DBT, while adapting to the unique needs of the client to help overcome obstacles and to facilitate change. Taking the first step to improve your overall functioning takes courage. I am here to support and empower you on your journey to healing if you are ready.

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Alyssa Broshar. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.
Alyssa is great at offering solutions that are adapted to my child's individual needs and situation. I like how she explains psychological concepts in a way that is easy to understand, and gives enough background information for me to understand how it helps and why its recommended for our circumstances. This helps me have more confidence in the tools and information we are given. In addition, she is warm, friendly and easy to talk to. My daughter felt comfortable with her right away.
