Hi! My name is Alex Dixon, and I am a Licensed Master Social Worker in Michigan. As a committed psychotherapist in the realm of many different mental health conditions and life adjustments, I have found that I am deeply empathetic and passionate towards the therapeutic process itself. My goal is to bring as much value as possible to my clients lives by initiating the process of developing a therapeutic relationship. Throughout this commitment with my clients, varieties of evidence-based practices and therapy interventions will be used to initiate change.
Years of my clinical experience has lead me to specialize in working with both adolescent males and females ages 13-19. My clinical focus and interests is primarily around 3 mental health topics. 1) treating PTSD and trauma, including sexual abuse, physical abuse, and emotional abuse. 2) Depression, isolation, hopelessness, guilt/shame. 3) Anxiety, racing thoughts, excessive worrying, test anxiety, school issues, and social anxiety. While I specialize in those specific areas of mental health, I very much enjoy and have clinical experience in working with self-esteem/confidence issues, grief/loss, co-dependency, and life adjustments. To help bring value to my clients and initiate forward movement toward their identified goals, I primarily focus on building a therapeutic alliance. Once this alliance has been built, I use a variety of therapeutic interventions including some such as hypnosis and hypnotherapy, CBT, DBT, mindfulness, meditation, breathing exercises, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and more. I commend you as parents for initiating the therapeutic process for your child. My experience in working with adolescents has taught me it is a team effort. Parents involvement in treatment offers huge insight and perspective into building a therapeutic team and overall collaboration in your child's mental health. Lets build that collaboration and get started today!

My son loves working with Alex. Alex really listens to my son's issues and provides many venues to learn and engage in different tools to cope with anxiety.
He is very cool and understanding. Excellent at listening
Alex has been thoroughly engaged, curious, and genuinely warm in his approach to our couples therapy. He is able to bring meaning and direction to our work from complex situations and histories.
It's only our second week with Alex and we could not be more happier. He is an amazing listener and gets straight to the points. He is fair with giving us both time to speak and respond. My boyfriend amd I both feel that he is the best person for us to guide is through the rough patches in our relationship.
Alex gets it. He understands the process of overcoming obstacles and finding solutions to make life digestible. Step by step your capable of more than you think. Alex listens to the small details and creates an endearing relationship that feels like home.
An understanding between one another is hard to find, but it's what I've found with Alex.
Great councilor ! Recommend 10/10
Our first visit with Alex through teen counseling was seemless. He was very concise in narrowing down our greatest and most immediate concerns and needs. Looking forward to getting to a deeper level.
Although at first I was unsure if Alex was going to be a good fit, this experience has been so helpful and positive. He is such a good listener and makes me feel comfortable in this very uncomfortable setting. Thank you, Alex!
Has been great to work with. Is very knowledgeable and understanding.
Alex , heard me well, with very few sessions he was able to help me verify and find the answers i needed, the deep issues i was having , unlike many other therapists i worked with !
He engages my mind and make me feel trust to reveal whats inside my heart , and speaks exactly what i need to hear , i feel grateful .
So far I’ve gained a lot from working with Alex
Alex does a good job of understanding me and feeling . He is really helping me through my trauma
