Aimee Reichert

About Me

Hello. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon and have been practicing counseling with teens and families for over ten years. I received my Master's degree from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado, with an emphasis on wilderness therapy and mindfulness. I also have advanced training in developmental psychology, cognitive behavioral approaches and collaborative problem-solving. Building connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions is core to my approach. I specialize in helping teenagers experiencing anxiety; depression; trauma related issues; self-harm behaviors; gender-identity development; LGBTQ related struggles; and attachment related issues.

I understand work with teens means considering the complex social and cultural structures they must learn to navigate - from social media, to school, to constant information exposure. Counseling can be a critical part to navigating adolescence and transitioning into a balanced young adulthood. From the perspective of human development, it is normal for teenagers to be asking the core question, "Who am I?" and it is also normal for them to make mistakes, act-out, rebel, and generally struggle as they seek out the answer. Counseling can serve as a profound opportunity for teens to self-reflect and build insight while navigating the rocky path of mental, emotional and cognitive development. Together, we will identify strengths, develop methods for seeking out joy, and most importantly build strategies for managing difficult feelings when presented with them.

I look forward to hearing from you.
